It seems these photos have gotten a little mixed up. The daytime photos are Bayonne, the nighttime photos are Pamplona and the walk photos are in between. I will go in and comment on each photo individually the next time I get Wi-Fi

The next 6 photos are the walk on day 3 - I was going to the Albergue at Haizea but it is closed for the season and will re-open in March.

I saw this house and thought Geoffrey could do this on the new addition.

Day 3 - Hostel is closed

So I stopped for 3 hours in the bar to figure out how to proceed. I ended up getting a ride into Pamplona as the bus had already gone through for the day. I spent the afternoon and evening sightseeing in Pamplona.

Day 2 - Leaving St Jean Pied de Port

We walked for 24.5km up and down but mostly up. When we got to the top it was snowy and cold, but it was the dark that did us in. Turned out we had 3km left to go, 1km up and 2km down but we flagged down a ride and called it a day.

The route planned was along the back of those hills, ending 8 hours later in Pasaia. But alas, no ferry so I walked on the beach and went on a fruitless train ride instead. 🙃

We knew there were other charity climbs from BC on the mountain, we didn't expect to run into one. Day 5 we walk into camp, and a Canadian Flag greets us. The team from BC Children's Hospital had strung it across the rocks. Great to see in the wilds of Africa.

Jennifer Pederson was a wish child in 1985 who wished to meet Mickey Mouse. Heather and Hans and her sisters went with Jennifer to Disneyland for her wish. She passed away a few weeks later. Heather and Hans have volunteered with Make A Wish since.
